Yoga Nidra

"Yoga Nidra" or "Yoga Sleep" is very Ancient Indian Art of Rejuvenating our whole body. It involves a process of revolving your conscious mind on our entire body. Following are the steps involved - 1. We have to lay down on our back on a flat bed without pillow with both of our hands on sideways with palms looking the ceiling. Don't stretch your legs too far from each other. 2. Now feel your body points that are touching the mattress. 3. Take long breath. Deep inhalation and slow exhalation of air for three times. 4. Concentrate on sounds around you. Starting from listening outside noises from long distances and slowly coming back to the noises of the room (for example sound of your room's ceiling fan etc.) you are resting in. 5. After few minutes of relaxation, Resolve yourself with a positive suggestion. For example if you want to quit a bad habit like smoking, then instead of saying yourself that "I will stop smoking", being a negative suggestion, give yourself a positive suggestion that "I will keep good health" or "I will maintain good health". 6. After that, start watching slowly your whole body with your conscious mind starting from your right hand fingers to your left leg toes. In this process there are different methods. The main object of this revolving your conscious mind on each and every part of your body is to make them Relax. So do this very slowly (in the beginning days you can do this quickly) and rejuvenate each and every part of your body including eyes, ears, lips, neck, throat, chest, limbs, thighs, spinal cord etc. 7. After that, you imagine yourself - a) Sitting on a beach of a sea shore watching tides b) Watching beautiful mountains covered with greenery. c) Watch Sun raising and Sun setting. d) Imagine yourself on a top of mountain and watching night sky with moon and stars There is no limit, wherever your feels pleasant, you can imagine being there. For example in a beautiful garden watching colorful flowers etc. In the beginning days you will fall into sleep. But try to avoid. There is no harm even if you fall into a deep sleep. After your above mentioned journey, slowly come back and start listing sounds in your room. And slowly relax and again you revolve your conscious mind on your entire body and bring back each and every part of your body into conscious. After all the above process, you will definitely feel rejuvenated and relaxed. Now your inner conscious took your positive suggestions and it will take charge of you and guide you in your day-to-day living and definitely yields your positive desires and suggestions. It will help you in achieving your goals. It improves your self-confidence and Will Power. HAPPY LIVING.

Personal Development Tips

What is personal development? It is not development of personal wealth or health or any other materialistic thing. It is something different…

We often neglect our personal development. We always strive to achieve or gain something… except our own Self. We give utmost importance to develop our career, to earn money, to maintain relationships, to enjoy all other worldly pleasures. But, we neglect ourselves. We won’t try to control our mind. We wish to control everybody, if possible, the whole World. But, we seldom control our own mind. We are puppets in the hands of our own mind. Our mind always dictates us. We are tuned up to live according to the wishes of our minds. Suppose we do the same thing to our mind, will it listen to us? No, never…. in fact, it revolts back. It is a dictator. We are like slaves to our own mind.

Now, I think we are getting nearer to the answer for the question “What is personal development?” Yeah! Personal development is nothing but to have a control over one’s own mind… development of Will Power; development of overall Personality or Character or Inner Self of an Individual. Whatever name you give…

If we achieve it, it’s more than anything. If we can able to control our mind, we can control the whole world. You can do wonders with the Will Power.

Tips to develop Will power

Observe your Actions: In our day-to-day life, we do lot of things automatically or casually or routinely. Sometimes, we don’t know what we are doing. Avoid automatic actions. We seldom observe our actions. To gain control over our actions, you just make the habit of observing your actions. Always try to bring back the wandering mind to the present situation or to the work on hand. This way you can gain control on your mind. You can have control on your actions. This way your Will power starts working. What are those automatic actions? We will discuss here…

We carry on our day to day activities very casually or routinely. For example, did we anytime observe how we brush our teeth? Never, it all goes on automatically, while we brush we think number of other things. Cut that habit! Bring back the mind to the work on hand.

Another example of our automatic actions is eating. While we eat, will we observe what we are eating, how we are eating? No… instead we watch T.V. or read books or talk on phone or browse Internet. This way we are missing a lot. We won’t concentrate on eating and we won’t chew properly, resulting into indigestion etc., Therefore, give attention to what you are eating.

Breathe properly: The main life force of our being is derived from inhalation and exhalation of air. We never observe this process. This process goes on automatically, without any supervision or anybody’s intervention. Observe this process, and try to gain control on it. Breathe in deeply… and breathe out slowly. It helps to keep your mind on your Self. Of course, it is not possible to observe every time you breathe in and breathe out. If you have to observe this process every time, then you have to sit idle at home. My suggestion is to set aside some time, in the early hours of the morning, for observing this process. If you practice this way, automatically you will breathe properly during whole day.

Before going to bed, lay down on a flat bed on your back. Put one thin pillow below your knees; leave both hands loosely on both sides of your body with palms looking upwards to the ceiling. Relax whole body and imagine that whole of your weight is being borne by the bed. Breathe in the air, full of lungs, and breathe out completely. Observe this process till your breathe become rhythmic. Rotate your conscious mind right from head to toe (i.e., observing and relaxing every part of your body) and give POSITIVE suggestions to your mind, such as “I will maintain good health” etc.,

This type of training the mind will yield good results. You will gain control on your mind. The mind starts listening to you. Your whole being becomes Radiant. Your Will power takes charge of your mind.

Fate or destiny
For me fate; destiny; good luck; all are synonyms. I believe that our destiny is already pre-determined. Our life is programmed one. We can't change it. We think that, everything... whatever is happening in our lives is because of our efforts. But it is not always correct. Fate plays a greater role in determining our destiny.
Just this type of thinking helps me to be positive. I accept whatever comes in my life. I accept everything... success, failure, happiness, sorrow... what else… everything. I accept without blaming anybody. But, at the same time I never forget my duties, responsibilities... I put my level best to achieve my goals. Only thing I learned is DON'T EXPECT THE RESULTS. Leave it to GOD. He is there; it is his duty to give the appropriate one to us. We should not interfere in his duties. Be satisfied with whatever you got. Think better. Think positive. Don't compare with others.
Suppose my neighbor is richer than me. If I compare with him, I won't be at peace. I will develop jealousy. I'm again telling… GOD knows to give 'what' to 'whom'. Suppose I ask the God to give the good luck of my neighbor to me, and God replies that "O.K. I will give it, are you ready to take his illness (say for example AIDS) also". Then what reply can we give to him? Therefore, every individual’s life comprises of both good luck and bad luck. Only time decides the things. We have to cultivate patience during the period of bad luck and wait for good luck to knock our doors.
Therefore, living with full satisfaction and accepting the God's will... is what I'm trying to practice. Surrender yourself to God. The moment you surrender yourself, you will feel light hearted, it will relieve you from big burden. Our duty is keeping on remembering the ultimate truth. The ultimate truth is - we will die one day or other and we cannot bring back the time that passed away. So… instead of weeping for our ill luck or whatever happened in our past… try to live in presence and leave the future to God. Life and time…both are precious. Once you loose them, you won’t get back them. Therefore try to live in presence and concentrate on the work on hand. Live in each and every minute of life. Most of us either live in past or future. They miss the present. That is not real life. That is misery. The real happiness lies in living in the present. The more you are conscious, the more world looks beautiful. It controls your actions and gives a stability of what you are talking, what you are doing etc.
One more theory I would like to mention here is, the ‘Theory of Oneness’. That means one is not different from others. I’m not different from you and you are not different from me. The same life force exists in every human being. You won’t feel that you are different from nature. You are part of the nature. Wherever you go, any part of the world, you won’t feel strange, since you are part of the nature.
This type of thinking will give courage to me in dealing with strangers and superiors. It helps me to lead the fearless life.
